Material: plywood, steel tubes
1999, Braun Lockenhaus (prototype)
Museum Collections:
Imperial Furniture Collection, Vienna
The key inspiration was Henry Koster’s film “Harvey” (1950), in which the main character – played by James Stewart – had an invisible two-metre-tall rabbit as a friend, which naturally leads to all sorts of complications.
The Harvey Chair, with its two large ears, could also be considered a gregarious friend upon whom one can rely. Because the backrest is divided into two parts and thereby leaves the spine untouched, the furniture allows an unusually free seating experience – just as requested by today’s ergonomics experts.
